US Elections 2025: A Glimpse

Image
Today, the US states of New Jersey and Virginia elected their new governors. New York City also elected a new mayor. That's it? No, there were several state-level and city-level races as well. We will be covering all of this here like no one else.  This was the biggest election in the country since the 2024 Presidential Elections.  Trump's victory and the year that followed shook the entire world by surprise. It was extremely overwhelming for many. Trump today has become extremely unpopular, with a low 37% approval rating. This is a record low rating for any President in US history. Thus, this election was considered a referendum on Trump 2.0's first year. Let us examine each of the races, what the outcome was, and what the implications will be.  Newscapsule of the month Commonwealth of Virginia  Virginia is a swing state when it comes to the gubernatorial races. The Rise of Non-West: Towards A Multi-Polar World- A Podcast

Greetings to all listeners and readers!!

For decades, precisely 75 years, the United States led the world, shaping politics, economy, and culture. This aspect is changing. The rise of non-Western countries- China, Russia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Turkey, Brazil has led to a decline in the generally understood Western-led Liberal/Rules-Based Order. With contemporary issues like protectionism, the rise of illiberal democracies, alternative politics, the Ukraine War, Gaza, and much more, we are experiencing a new type of geopolitics, like we have never seen before. This episode, hence, comprehensively tries to cover various subthemes under the road to multipolarity.

Summary of the podcast

Generally, these topics aren’t much available in the mainstream media, because they are believed hard to crack and don't address the basics. But, through our podcast, we disprove this misconception that these cannot be understood by common people. We explain in simple terms various subtopics under this vast topic in the form of conversational and discussion styles. Everything in the episode is easy to follow and understand.

Guests Siddharth and Deyansh were hosted by Jairam R Prabhu and gave their views and insights on the topic of the day- The Rise of Non-West: Towards A Multi-polar World. After their personal introduction, the panelists gave their opening remarks. Thereafter, they defined what multipolarity is and anti-West are before proceeding to the core discussion. The entire panel agreed that the world is still not multipolar, and we are in a transition state where the decline of the US is evident. But who would rise as the principal challenger to US hegemony was an important topic on which everyone had varied opinions.

The discussion touched upon various topics such as the rise of non-Western countries, the decline of Western countries, and their value systems. The focus was mainly on how China, through its actions and policies, is emerging as the principal alternative. Starting from BRICS, dedollarisation, and opposing Western sanctions, building the BRI initiative, the Asian Development Bank, etc. The discussion ended with raising the credible question of whether China actually has both hard power and soft power, or even the trustworthiness of the majority of the nations.

Before concluding, the panelists spoke in depth regarding the decline of multilateral institutions, notably the UN, the Bretton Woods Institutions, the WTO, etc. Both the panellists promptly answered the questions asked and took the discussion across a wide range of perspectives. Listen to the entire episode for a detailed understanding.
