When we say the word, reservation everyone means and refers specifically to caste-based reservation.  Reservation is applicable in educational institutions and in government jobs, PSUs, at the governmental level, politics, and administration. But in India, it opens up for a variety of debates in India on society, economics, and justice.  Why Reservation and specifically Caste-based Reservation? Countries around the world have various types of affirmative actions, and in India, it is primarily through reservation. Due to the backwardness and historic disadvantages faced, India has a system of caste-based reservation, enshrined in the Constitution of India, yet has been practised since the 1932 Poona Pact.
